GJ’s Landscape and Civil was engaged directly by Canterbury Bankstown Council to deliver the upgrade to this playground and landscape in Lakemba. This upgrade improved the open space and recreation of the current play space and brought all the play equipment and surfaces up to date with the latest Australian standards for safety.
Key improvements included:
- A series of playing mounds in different height with a variety of climbing options and embankment slide
- Access to sand, water, bio-swale and sandstone logs that are sensory focused and natural elements to stimulate senses for a range of abilities and ages
- Picnic shelter, accessible BBQ and accessible picnic table set that are adjacent to sand and water play area
- Cycle track with directional markings and sensory surface for a range of abilities and ages, challenging terrain with bumps, dips and level changes
- Passive lawn area for rest and quiet play and high point to overlook the playground
- Play zone with the landmark play structure, swings and spinner to provide multiple play opportunities (both comfortable and challenging) to engage kids with different ages and ability levels
- A variety of seating opportunities for carers to rest and overlook the playground
- Accessible toilet and change facilities
- A quieter discovery-imaginative play area in a bush experience setting with discovery, imaginary and sensory elements and balancing play
- Opportunities for unstructured play and connections to local environment
- Management of stormwater from Koala Rd
