GJ’s Landscape and Civil was engaged directly by FDC to deliver the landscape upgrade to improve the amenity of the existing publicly accessible but privately owned open spaces on the site.
This included increasing tree canopy which improved the landscaped area of the existing development which had minimal greenery. The space was designed to have a range of modes, including being an extension of the workspace for the building tenant and visitors, and is aligned to the contemporary approaches to meeting and collaboration spaces being provided in a range of environments with improves access to natural ventilation, natural light and greenery
Key improvements included:
- A softer and more inviting space which moves away from the current commercial feel of these spaces
- A proportion of the trees planted were native canopy trees. A limited amount of exotic tree species, appropriate to the site’s microclimate, had been selected to maintain a generous and dense canopy in winter whilst allowing for solar access during the cooler months.
- 200m2 of Stratavault was installed ensuring adequate soil depth and volume across the site
